How to end a client's contract early
Open the contract and select End contract; choose Cancel with no fee or Cancel with a buyout fee, when it ends, and what happens to the linked membership.

Clients on a contract can't cancel their linked membership themselves. They're told to speak to the gym. This article shows owners and admins how to end a contract early, either with no fee or with a buyout fee that Levflex invoices through your Stripe account. The signed contract isn't changed: the ending is added to its record, and both of you get a termination notice.
Warning: Choosing Now lifts the commitment today, even though the buyout invoice is still unpaid. Always choose When the buyout is paid if you want the contract to stay in force until you're paid.
Before you begin#
- Sign in as the owner or an admin.
- Agree the buyout amount, if any, with the client.
- Connect Stripe if you'll charge a buyout fee.
Steps#
- Go to Contracts and open the contract, or open it from the client's profile.
- Select End contract.
- Choose How do you want to end it?: Cancel with no fee or Cancel with a buyout fee.
- For a buyout: enter the Buyout amount ($) and an optional Due date (optional). Without one, it's due in 7 days.
- Choose When does the contract end?: Now, or When the buyout is paid.
- Choose what happens to The membership: Cancel it now, Cancel at the end of the current billing period (the default) or Keep it.
- Add an optional Note, then select End contract, End contract and send invoice or Send invoice — end when paid.
Options compared#
| Choice | Contract ends | Client owes |
|---|---|---|
| No fee | Today | Nothing |
| Buyout, end now | Today | The buyout invoice |
| Buyout, end when paid | When the invoice is paid | The buyout invoice |
Managing the buyout invoice#
On the contract you can Send again, Mark paid outside Stripe (for cash or a cheque) or Void invoice. Voiding an end-when-paid invoice cancels the ending, and the contract carries on as signed.
Common mistakes#
Cancelling the membership in Stripe instead#
Cancelling only in Stripe leaves the contract active in Levflex, so the client still can't manage their membership. End it from Contracts.
Expecting the current month to be refunded#
Cancel it now stops future charges. The current period isn't refunded. Refund it separately if you want to.
Ignoring deleted accounts#
If a client deletes their account during the term, the contract shows account deleted during term — decide on a buyout. Use End contract to decide.
After you end it, the client can manage or cancel their membership themselves, and the ending appears in the contract's Audit trail.
