Session packs vs memberships, which should you buy
A session pack is a one-time purchase of a set number of credits. A membership charges monthly and adds a set number of credits each month until you cancel.

Your gym can sell sessions three ways: a single session, a session pack (also called a bundle) and a monthly membership. All three add session credits to your balance, and every credit books one spot at any open time. The difference is how you pay. A pack is paid once, while a membership charges every month until you cancel. Your gym sets the prices and which options it offers.
Warning: Subscribing to a membership can result in a charge every month until you cancel it. Always check the monthly price and whether the gym asks you to sign a contract before you select Subscribe.
Before you begin#
- Look at what your gym offers on Payments in the portal or the Wallet tab in the app.
- Think about how often you'll train each month.
- Check whether you're on a contract with your gym, which can affect cancelling.
Packs vs memberships#
| Single session | Session pack | Membership | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you pay | Once | Once | Every month, automatically |
| Credits added | 1 | The pack's number, for example 10 | The plan's number each month, for example 8 a month |
| When credits arrive | After payment | After payment | After each monthly payment |
| Ends | When you use the credit | When you use the credits | When you cancel, or as your contract allows |
| Manage it | Not needed | Not needed | Manage membership |
| Best for | Trying the gym | Training now and then | Training every week |
Which to choose#
- Choose a single session if you're trying a trainer or the gym for the first time.
- Choose a pack if your schedule changes a lot and you'd rather not pay monthly.
- Choose a membership if you train most weeks and want credits added automatically.
You can hold credits from more than one source. They all go into the same balance, and booking uses whichever credits you have.
Common mistakes#
Thinking a membership books sessions for you#
A membership adds credits each month. You still book each session yourself. See How to book a session.
Subscribing twice#
You can only have one active membership at a gym. If you see You already have a membership, manage the existing one with Manage membership instead.
Expecting to cancel a contract membership online#
If you signed a contract with your gym, you can update your card online but can't cancel there. See Why you can't cancel a contract yourself.
Troubleshooting#
