How to add sales tax to client purchases

This article shows you how to have Stripe Tax add sales tax when clients buy packs, memberships or sessions. Tax is only added for places where you've registered in Stripe. Levflex doesn't decide whether you owe tax, so check with your accountant.

Before you begin#

• Connect Stripe and make sure Charges enabled is ticked.
• Know which states you're registered to collect sales tax in.

Steps#

1. Go to Settings → Payments.
2. Select the Sales tax tab in the Stripe panel.
3. Add your tax registrations and business details in Stripe.
4. Go to Sales tax on client purchases on the same page.
5. Select Collect sales tax once it says Your Stripe Tax settings are complete. The button stays disabled until then.
6. Check it now reads Stripe Tax calculates and adds sales tax at checkout, based on your registrations.

Common mistakes#

Turning it on before adding registrations#

Stripe needs at least one registration to work out tax. Add registrations first.

Expecting tax on your Levflex plan to change#

This setting only affects what clients pay you. Your Levflex invoice is separate.

Forgetting Stripe Tax fees#

Stripe charges for Stripe Tax. Check Stripe's pricing before you turn it on.

To stop, select Stop collecting sales tax. Tax shows as a separate line on client receipts and in Stripe's tax reports on the Sales tax tab.
